Due to expansion we now have an opportunity available to recruit another foodbank adviser to support some of the most vulnerable people in our society. The Food Bank Adviser will deliver a free, impartial and confidential advice service within the food banks across the Dunstable area, working with clients to resolve the issues which may lead them to needing to make use of the food bank services. You will be able to offer advice and assistance to clients on a range of enquiry areas including: Benefits, Debt, Housing, Employment, Family Breakdown, Consumer and Discrimination.

You will be a team player, with a passion for making a difference to the lives of local people, and the ability to contribute to and support the delivery of high quality advice to those who need it.

Role responsibilities:

  • We are looking for a well organised fully experienced Generalist Adviser to join our service
  • To provide advice to food bank users, including income maximisation, benefits advice, assisting with claims and debt support
  • To provide advice to clients via telephone, face to face and email.
  • To maintain records of the project work and report on the work to funders, senior management, partners and colleagues
  • To keep up to date with trends and changes within the benefit system
  • To take on any other reasonable tasks which contribute to achievement of the job purpose and aims.
