Use this calculator to help you understand:

  • how much money your appliances cost to use
  • which appliances are costing you the most money

You can add and compare as many appliances as you want.

If you've got more than one of the same appliance, add each one separately.

The calculator uses a rate of 28p per kWh to calculate the costs. The rate you'll pay will depend on your energy tariff - you can check your bill to find out what you pay.

How we work out your costs

Your costs are based on the average amount of power used by appliances - this is called their ‘power rating’. You can check the average power ratings for different appliances on the Centre for Sustainable Energy's website.
